After reading @Philipb4’s blog here, I feel very happy to see a micro study in the consumer Psyche with regard to off-shoring.
Just feel like highlighting here that in my understanding, the consumers in a developed country now understand and accept off-shoring and are even willing to adapt to it a 100%. The only thing they would like is to know that all that is for a good cause and that the benefits from the off shoring goes into the right hands.
The consumers understand why off-shoring not only benefits the people in the developing countries but also helps businesses in the developed nations to survive and be competitive enough. I strongly believe that global production is the only way to go for any business today. Hence, its the onus of the end seller in the developed country to watch over the production practices and make sure that they are kept fair and ethical. If this practice is clear and transparent to the end buyer, the business will benefit very highly from the reward, in the long run.
For a consumer, it is always great to buy something thats both good quality and affordable. But knowing it has also been made ethically is an added feather on the cap.
The greatest challenge is to be able to share your best practices with the end buyer and once you over come that, your product is going to be the most sought after.
